FAQ

Q: How long will the portrait take?

A painting will take around 6 weeks from date of acceptance. Graphite drawings take less time, around 2-3 weeks. This time may vary during busier periods eg. Christmas.

Q: What kind of pictures should I send?

The photo you choose will be the final portrait image. The quality of the painting depends upon the quality of detail in the photo, therefore a high resolution image is preferable. For emailing a standard .jpg is fine. Additional support photos will be greatly appreciated as this helps with reference to eye, coat colour, body language, etc. See Photo Tips.

Q: What if I don't have digital photos?
That's ok, photographs can be sent by mail to the artists address - you can specify this on your order form. Original photographs will be treated with the utmost care and sent back to you when the portrait is complete. Alternatively you could try your local library who will most likely have scanning facilities available.

Q: Can I request multiple pets in the portrait?

Yes, but this will be an additional 30% on the price listed.
Size & Prices here.

Q: What about the background?
So as not to detract from your pet a simple background works best, however if you feel a special background is vital to the image this can be discussed when ordering. I will issue a quote at the time of booking as each background requires a different level of time and skill.

Q: What materials do you use?

I use high quality Rembrandt artists' oil paint with an added alkyd medium for faster drying. These paints are rich in colour and light fast. The canvas type is 'gallery style,' using 100% 8oz pure cotton and has a profile of 4cm. Similarly only high quality materials are used in the graphite drawings, with textured 125 g.s.m. paper.

Q: When do I pay?

Before work commences a deposit of $25(AUS) is required (£10 for UK customers, $20 for US customers) to place your portrait in the work schedule. The finished portrait will be emailed to you for approval, the balance payable before the work is released. Size & Price.

Q: How do I pay?
Ruff Renditions accepts Direct Deposit, PayPal, Money Order or Bank Cheque. No personal cheques are accepted. Once you have commissioned your portrait you will be asked to pay a deposit. If you choose PayPal a link to a secure web page will be provided for both your deposit and balance payments.

Q: What can I expect to pay for postage?

Within Australia postage is free. Freight for international customers is calculated at time of commission. All parcels are send registered.

Q: Does the portrait come framed?
No, the 'gallery style' canvas gives the work a modern, contemporary feel and works just as well unframed. The drawings are also without framing.
